Feedback Strategies Week 3

In reading “Try Feedforward Instead of Feedback,” I have discovered that I agree with the concept. That is because when hearing Feedback, you cannot help but feel like it is judgment of your past and leaves you feeling negative, attempted respective writing or not. It is simply just hard to receive or give feedback if you are judging the past. However, if you look towards the future and only focus on giving suggestions that will help in the future, not what was wrong or proving they are wrong; one will feel a sense of success and have positive outlooks. I would very much rather give feedforward and receive it rather than feedback because I find it hard myself when heading towards the feedback route. This is because I feel that I may be “too mean” in my reply when I am not trying to be, but with feedforward I will not have to worry about that. I absolutely love this idea! Therefore, I am going to try to make my feedback more feedforward so it will be perceived in a positive matter no matter what. I frankly, want to be as nice as I can in my replies.

  1. Hi there, Kaylee! I read the same article! I too agree with the concept. I agree with what you took from it; like you said, you truly do just get tunnel vision and focus on the negative when you receive negative feedback, whereas if it were positive, you focus on your future and feel more of a want (or even a need) to get better and focus on your future accomplishments. Even just accepting failure as accomplishment... accepting is as just a chance to get better, that truly helps a lot. I love your brutal honesty. It feels much more sincere and real that way. Great job!
