Topic Brainstorm

The first project idea I find to be interesting and might use is to choose from one piece of fiction and to choose a female character from that fiction. I found this interesting because it would be great to pick apart a specific character from a play and find the reasons behind those characters actions, beliefs and characteristics. Plus I feel that as a woman, I can relate myself to the female character in whatever piece I choose. It would also be wonderful to learn about diving deeper into the choices an author makes, considering an author’s choice reflects the work.

The second project idea I find to be of interest is to choose a reading and find what the work reflects: historical, social, political or economic context. I find this to be interesting because the reading I choose may have a historical past that I may want to learn about. I would find it to be amazing to relate modern time history, social, political or economic context to the past’s context. Hopefully, I could take what I have come to learn in my life and incorporate it into this project idea.

The third project idea I find to be of interest is to think of a theme in my life and to choose a reading that also discusses this theme. After doing so, I would make connections between life and the reading’s theme. This particular idea would be an outstanding idea to choose because connecting real life and the reading is a good way to dive deeper into the minds of the world. Learning about how other’s think is a good way to expand my own way of thinking. Plus I find applying my life to the work’s theme would be a helpful experience in developing my writing skills.

The fourth project idea I find to be interesting is to choose one story or excerpt and to answer questions like: how it could be considered an artifact of history? What is taught? How we are taught differently about history through the story? I find this to be interesting because a story gives a personal view of someone going through that history rather than history books that tells what happened. In a story, we get the feelings and thoughts of what is going on around them. It would be wonderful to learn about the feelings of a person that lived through that historic time. Plus, learning more about certain times is a good way to develop a personal connection to a story. With going about it that way, I could write just a little bit better than before.

  1. Hi Kaylee, I enjoyed reading your discussion about some possible topics to write about. I agree with you about the value of examining the context a work was written in, and what I like about looking at what fiction tells us about society is that authors have no obligation to be objective, so they can really tell us what they think! I look forward to seeing which topic you choose to write about first.
